About SAUL

Food and WineIn 1999, Lisa and Saul Bolton opened SAUL on Smith Street in Boerum Hill Brooklyn. Their aim was to create a restaurant that combines the warmth and comfort of a neighborhood establishment with the sophisticated, French-influenced contemporary American food that reflects Bolton’s many years of experience.

Low-key and intimate, with exposed-brick walls and well-spaced tables, SAUL features quietly complex dishes such as Japanese yellowtail tuna tartare layered with pickled yellow beets and chive cream and topped with crispy red beets, as well as confit of organic rabbit “en crepinette” with trumpet royal mushrooms and petite salad of baby frisée. Bolton also prepares all the desserts, including chocolates and house-made ice creams (baked Alaska is a signature item). When not behind the stove, Bolton is seeking out superior suppliers. Current favorites include 3-Corner Field Farm lamb and Pierless Fish.

Directions to SAUL:

Conveniently located on Smith Street in Brooklyn, SAUL is close to subways and to lower Manhattan. Take the F Train to Bergen Street. in Brooklyn. Getting out at back of train, Saul is half a block north of exit, as you turn left onto Smith Street. SEE MAP

By Car from Manhattan: Take the Brooklyn Bridge and continue straight as you get off the bridge. Turn left onto Atlantic Avenue, travelling 1 block to Hoyt Street. At Hoyt, take a right and travel two blocks to Bergen Street and make another right. After 1 block turn right onto Smith Street. SAUL is on the left side of Smith Street between Bergen and Dean Streets. By car from BQE: Exit onto Atlantic Avenue, (exit 27) and head 3 blocks east to Court Street. Turn right onto Court Street and head approximately 4 blocks south to Wykoff Street. Take a left onto Wykoff and head one block to Smith Street. Take Smith Street 3 blocks. SAUL is on the left side of Smith between Bergen and Dean Streets.
